10 Days.
10 Challenges.
Let’s Save the World!
I am at a loss. Each day seems more devastating than the last, and I am feeling rather helpless as a small business owner and as a human being. Despite the blinding light shining on our global warming crisis, Australia is on fire, hurricanes are getting bigger, floods are wiping out entire communities, and crops are wilting away.
When I stand back and take it all in, I wonder what my business can do to make a difference and then I immediately feel like I may never be able to do enough.

Small Businesses can make Big Changes
Clean water, vital to life on earth, is quickly disappearing, and once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. It seems our government wants to ignore the severity of our situation with distractions, but I can’t look away from the global crisis we are currently facing and I want my business to be a part of the solution, not the problem.
So I decided to try and do something that will challenge myself and other small businesses to make a big change and to engage in small ways that will produce big benefits.
As I pondered this dilemma and scrolled through my social channels, I noticed all these 10-day challenges popping up and was amazed to see how much engagement they were receiving.
“It seems our government wants to ignore the severity of our situation with distractions, but I can’t look away from the global crisis that we are currently facing.”
I asked myself…“Do 10 Day Challenges Really work?”
Did you know we are currently spending 2.4 hours a day on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram on average? That’s 144 minutes of our life each day!
Some of those minutes are going towards quizzes, games and 10-day challenges on things like no sugar, no carbs for 10 days or “10 days in the life of a performing artist”, and that’s when I realized there could be significant value in doing them. The time, thought and pride a person has when sharing this content and their dedication to stick with these challenges until the very end is something to take note of.
I wondered if they would also work for something as BIG as Climate Change.
We can do better
I’m just one person and not perfect at all! I run a small design business all on my own and I don’t know much about how to fix this horrible situation we have gotten ourselves into but I know I can do better and I am willing to challenge myself to try. Below are 10 easy ways you can get involved and make a difference using the power of your social platforms as a small business owner and beyond.
By making this a challenge, you are promising to yourself and to others that you will complete the tasks in front of you. Imagine if others do the same? What kind of difference will it make?
Let’s make this go viral.
These 10-day challenges have inspired me to challenge other small businesses, celebrities, and politicians to act now, not later.
Based on the suggestions of the WWF, I have come up with a 10-day challenge to help fight global warming and I hope you will consider taking the challenge with me.
